Melatonin

The regulator of our internal clock

Melatonin is a natural hormone produced by our body that determines our sleep-wake cycle. Our body clock controls how much melatonin is produced during the 24-hour period.

Melatonin secretion increases in the late afternoon, peaks in the middle of the night and decreases in the early hours of the morning to achieve the morning wakefulness. Light, especially cyan, interferes with melatonin production in the brain.

Melatonin allows us to improve our sleep at night so that we are more rested and more alert during the day.

Natural levels of melatonin show a decline with advancing age resulting in an increase in the incidence of sleep disorders, especially after middle age.

In people suffering from insomnia it has been shown that after taking melatonin for 3 weeks the quality of sleep improves, night awakenings are reduced and primarily the time to sleep onset is reduced, i.e. they fall asleep faster.

Valerian

The tranquilizer of nature

Valerian is a plant known since ancient times for its sedative and anxiolytic properties, which rank it among the best tranquilizers in nature. Its action is due to the oils it contains, which have an action similar to that of benzodiazepines.

Valerian helps to reduce psychological stress by promoting peaceful sleep.
